The Key to Success as a Home Based Agent is to start at Square One –
Education. We are not referring to specialty or host agency training; we are
talking about the basics. Building a foundation of industry knowledge that
allows you to sell and book travel. It is this basic training that gets your
foot in the door and allows you to link with host agencies and suppliers.
Career Quest Training Center, an ASTA travel school member, offers two online
training programs designed especially for the home based travel agent:
- Home Based Travel Agent Program
- Independent Contractor Program (includes GDS training)
The curriculum for both programs builds a foundation of travel knowledge
required to sell travel plus guidelines to establish a successful home based
agency. With the online program, you will receive textbooks to work with but
your assignments, supplemental reading and exams are all online. As we are a
travel school, students have access to a staff of instructors to answer
questions and provide support. Career Quest conducts monthly chat rooms and
conference calls with preferred suppliers for networking opportunities. The
programs are self-paced and can be completed in 4-6 weeks. For more details on
